For those who wanted feedback:
No, the house was not constantly full of bark being dragged in. It was actually surprisingly little that that happened. So in that sense it was a plus.
No, the bark is not a good idea for various reasons, mainly:
- it is very difficult to see the poos
- poos are difficult to pick up
- the dogs do not like walking on the bark so all the wees and poos ended up either being done in the house or the surrounding brick paving and walls
- the dogs played less due to not wanting to run on the bark
- it started getting a bit ...... icky
So what we have done is put in synthetic grass and so far so good - we'll keep you up to date with our opinions on it though. The dogs love it, it looks and feels great and the play zone looks clean, neat and tidy.
The company that did it is called SynSport and they were absolutely, incredibly fantastic. They arrived on Saturday morning at 10am and they were done by just after 2pm (they said they would be done by 3pm). The remaining time was used to clean up after themselves beautifully (although there wasn't much to clean up they worked so tidily). I could go on and on about the service forever but I just have to mention that their prices were competitive, their warranties on the product and workmanship better than anyone else that quoted and they have a far greater selection to choose from wrt the grass.
No - they did not ask me to promote them in exchange for anything. Full price was paid for the lawn and I asked them whether I could mention them in this post
But seriously - if you have thought about artificial lawn or are thinking of it - contact them. They are great and friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend them.
The one thing I will say so far with this crazy summer heat - it's not cooler to go stand on the lawn any longer. I think the synthetic grass feels hotter than the bricks to stand on! However I can't honestly say it bugs me as when it gets that hot I have no interest in being outside anyway. We put a blanket down during the day and the hounds love laying on that to bake in the sun.
